Session 3: All-Electric in San Jose – Adobe’s Path to Net Zero
Date & Time
Wednesday, September 21, 2022, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Description
This high-interest presentation will examine Adobe’s new high-performing North Tower in San Jose – the company’s largest and most complex building to date. To be completed in October, the 18-story building was designed to operate without fossil fuels – the first office building in Silicon Valley to do so. Learn about the challenges of designing and operating an all-electric building. Challenges include:  mechanical – heat pumps are more complicated to use and more numerous than boilers; façade shading, automatic shades and other HVAC efficiencies incorporated to reduce energy use and make heat pumps a viable option; PG&E and building upgrades required to support electrical demand.  Other challenges involved budgeting; renewable energy options; and food service equipment. Adobe will apply lessons learned from North Tower to the company’s other major sites. Gain information you may utilize within your own facilities.
