8:40 AM - 9:40 AMSession 1: New Information on Aerial Lift Training – “I Didn’t Know That” is Not an Excuse!Andy Bull - President , C.H. Bull
Aerial lifts are used every day in and around your facilities for maintenance.  The speaker will discuss the new ANSI regulations adopted by OSHA, including the Chain of Responsibilities when it comes to training. If there is an accident or an injury with a lift or lifts you have rented or own, the first question OSHA will ask and will want to see, is your documentation for training – and if the injured person received the training. This presentation will also touch on the five key concepts of safety: 1. avoid hazards, 2. pre-operation inspection, 3.  pre-operation function tests, 4. inspection of work area, and 5. proper use of lift.  Could you pass a test with a 100% correct score right now on lifts and responsibilities ?  If not, learn what you need to know in this session.
9:50 AM - 10:50 AMSession 2: 2022 Title 24 Lighting and Electrical Energy Code UpdateMichael Schalzo , National Lighting Contractors Association of America
This presentation will provide an overview of the changes to the nonresidential Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Title 24, Part 6, Lighting/Electrical) for 2022 that will be implemented on January 1, 2023. The speaker will also discuss how the code changes affect Acceptance Testing and what that means for you on a new project.
11:00 AM - 12:00 PMSession 3: All-Electric in San Jose – Adobe’s Path to Net ZeroSanjeev Sethi - Senior Director, Global Site Operations , Adobe
This high-interest presentation will examine Adobe’s new high-performing North Tower in San Jose – the company’s largest and most complex building to date. To be completed in October, the 18-story building was designed to operate without fossil fuels – the first office building in Silicon Valley to do so. Learn about the challenges of designing and operating an all-electric building. Challenges include:  mechanical – heat pumps are more complicated to use and more numerous than boilers; façade shading, automatic shades and other HVAC efficiencies incorporated to reduce energy use and make heat pumps a viable option; PG&E and building upgrades required to support electrical demand.  Other challenges involved budgeting; renewable energy options; and food service equipment. Adobe will apply lessons learned from North Tower to the company’s other major sites. Gain information you may utilize within your own facilities.
1:00 PM - 2:00 PMSession 4: National Electrical Code (NEC) Compliance – Information You Can Count on For SuccessRaymond Bizal - Director, Regional Operations , NFPA
Involved with electrical systems in your facility?  Don't be isolated from knowledge and information that will help reduce risk from electrical systems. This presentation will help you with electrical code compliance. Gain information about the National Electrical Code system and significant changes to the 2020 edition of the NEC recently incorporated by reference into the California Electrical Code. Also learn about free code access and resources available to you.
2:10 PM - 2:40 PMSession A: High Performance Building: Performance By Design

This valuable film provides in-depth look at how the integrative design process happens for high-performance buildings. The film, produced by RMI, formerly the Rocky Mountain Institute, includes examples of how design teams collaborate with people involved in HVAC and other building systems in ways that integrate building design elements --such as daylighting and renewable energy -- into other building systems for optimal performance. Case history examples of this process include the Empire State Building retrofit, Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Phipps Conservancy, the Desert Living Center, Willow School and Chicago Botanic Gardens.

8:40 AM - 9:40 AMSession 5: Green Stormwater Infrastructure – An Effective Way to Meet Your Water ChallengesRajani Nair - Deputy Director, Environmental Services Department-Watershed Protection Div , City of San Jose
Natural land absorbs rainwater, but hard surfaces such as rooftops, sidewalks, driveways and streets, do not, and stormwater runoff from these surfaces may cause flooding and ultimately pollute the Bay creating multiple problems for both public and private entities. This session will provide background on green stormwater infrastructure solutions, where stormwater runoff is slowed, infiltrated, used, and/or treated through natural processes to manage water runoff.  The City of San Jose will share case studies that demonstrate how green infrastructure can provide multipurpose benefit while ultimately creating a healthier community and complying with State Water Board regulatory requirements.
9:50 AM - 10:50 AMSession 6: Applying the IAQ/Ventilation Lessons Learned from the Pandemic to Your Building TodayJohn Ko - Owner/CEO , Komfort IQ
James Shwe Shwe - President/Chief Engineer , Maroko & Shwe Inc.
Ying Wang - Architect and President , Okapi Architect Inc.
It’s important for facilities managers to keep momentum going on indoor air quality progress as the Covid pandemic winds down.  Many facility staff were scrambling to react to the pandemic.  Now that the pressure has turned down a bit, it’s time to take a step back and evaluate what indoor air quality priorities should be and where changes or upgrades are still needed.  This presentation informs facility managers how to tackle IAQ/ventilation issues strategically instead of reactively.
11:00 AM - 12:00 PMSession 7: OSHA's Requirements for Emergency and Evacuation PlanningMary Ann Henriques , OSHA Training Center at Chabot-Las Positas Community College
Emergency planning is a fundamental principle of workplace safety and health. Preparing before an emergency incident plays a vital role in ensuring that employers and workers have the necessary equipment, know where to go, and know how to keep themselves safe when an emergency occurs. This informational session will provide information on OSHA's requirements for workplace emergency action and fire protection plans and when they are required.  It will also provide attendees with resources to help develop and maintain their own plan.
1:00 PM - 2:00 PMSession 8: Maintenance Workforce Shortages – Challenges and SolutionsAlbert Gabriel - Maintenance Management Consultant
In today’s job market many companies, with different sizes of operations, are experiencing a shortages of skilled technicians. This presentation will discuss what facilities and maintenance managers can do in the short- and long-term to maintain an effective maintenance and asset management operation. Solutions described will include collaboration with local automation companies, working with OEMs for better support, training programs for maintenance teams and new hires, collaborating with local colleges to provide better training, supporting intern programs, and reviewing pay rates.

As of 2012, the Green Building Certification Institute allows individuals with LEED Professional credentials to report any education related to green buildings to the Institute for continuing education. Upon request, Facilities Expo will send a certificate of completion for sessions on green building topics to any LEED Professional who requests one for GBCI documentation purposes, as long as they make the request at the conclusion of the class session, and as long as their badge was scanned.
